Usually, when I'm interested in a book, I'll read a fair amount of the bad reviews first.I read a few of the 3 star ones, but thought I'd take a chance anyway. Boy, was I wrong. Should have read the 1 and 2 stars instead.No heat, At all. Just like another reviewer stated, I don't feel the need to put 'spoiler' before saying this because the author should have added this to the blurb in some unique way.Whatever flavor of life you enjoy or just adhere to is awesome - more power to you. But I always like a little spice, at least, in the books I read.Even if the sexuality (or non, in this case) hadn't been so harped on, there was no real chemistry between them. Gale was a sweetie, but Saxton got on my nerves. There was hardly any 'ABDL' or 'Little' going on in my opinion. Even when 'Saxy' was in the moment, he still was too Saxton. Again, though, to each their own.Unfortunately, this is going in the DNF folder.I love the book 'Gentle Hand'. I highly recommend that one over this. I love Nora's books because she is unafraid to explore traumatic experiences in her characters. She choses to write in a genre that is usually hallmarked by its intense intimate scenes ie sex. Nora writes sex scenes that are hot and emotional but in Healing Hand sex is off the table because of one of the characters traumatic experience as a child.I absolutely loved this book and it shows what an amazing writer Nora is.It is truly a story of healing and love. Of acceptance when it seems the injured character has lost all hope for acceptance. Its like Nora took part of 1 Corinthians 13 (the Love Chapter in the Bible) and personified it in this relationship.Gale is patient, kind and loving. He doesn't seek his own satisfaction or needs above those of Saxton. He waits patiently for Saxton to be ready for each step and is willing to answer Saxton's insecurities with reassurance at every turn.This isn't a hot read but it is one that is so emotionally fulfilling. It is a love story that is just beautiful in and of itself. It is the story of two people who don't fit the norms finding each other and happiness together despite their limitations and in some ways because of them.You keep on surprising me with your stories Nora. I look forward to many more!
