I had an open mind when buying this book. New author for me, good reviews, interesting concept. But sadly, the book was very disappointing. Usually, I can ignore minor grammar and spelling issues in books. Not a big deal. This book had so many basic grammar issues, it was hard to not point them out as I read. Sentence structure was atrocious and made the flow of the book for me staggering. Then came the actual writing. The concept of the book intrigued me. But it fell apart when none of the characters had any true personality. They all talk the same. They all think the same. Where's the individuality? I got through as much of the book I could to give it a fair chance. Sadly, I could not finish it. It felt very immature. He has potential, but he needs a lot of growth before I consider purchasing another book. I actually enjoy the work of Mr. Stretke which is one reason I’m disappointed. I hold him to a higher standard than this story reflects.There are two protagonists. Easton, a half-breed vampire who is an internet/information technology genius, and Ismael, a centuries old vampire warrior and highly respected (and feared) coven leader. The two meet, go from enemy to lover in a week and the story goes from there.It by no means is a bad story but it lacks any passion. I read a lot of books and a good vampire story always has me in tears, at least for a page or two but I felt nothing as the story progressed. You can kinda figure out what is going to happen. It’s as if the author was in a hurry and just gave us a brief synopsis of what was happening. It’s such a shame. The story idea is brilliant but it never gets off the ground. The material in book one of this series should have been another 10,000 to 20,000 words. That would have allowed for strong character development and for the reader to have time to appreciate the story.I’m giving this book three stars instead of two only because I like the author. I had already purchased the second book in the series so that will determine whether or not I continue with this story.
